Reaching
a task ...
Most
of the sites we work on are only accessible via private transport. The
task entry in the newsletter includes a map showing the meeting point
and the parking arrangements. You should try to arrive at the
meeting point by 10:00am.
Arrival ...
Please find out
who is leading the task and introduce yourself to them.
What
to expect ...
Getting
to the work site is likely to involve a walk and you may be asked to
help carry tools, etc. At the task site there will be a, brief, site
and task related safety talk. If necessary, introductions and a
tool-talk. We work through the day finishing by 5pm or
dusk,
which ever is earlier. Having a morning break around 11am, lunch
break around 1pm and an afternoon break around 3pm. Remember to
wash/sanitise hands before handling food, etc or touching anything that
will be in contact with mouth, nose or eyes.
Distancing & Tools ...
Please
try to keep at least one metre away from others when working,
preferably two metres where there is no need for proximity, this helps
keep others safe. Always wear gloves when working with
tools unless safety requires otherwise. Where possible use the same set
of tools throughout the working day and put them in a safe location
when not in use, where you will be able to find them!
First Aid ...
Be
prepared to administer basic first aid to yourself. If you need an item
from the First Aid kit, ask a First Aider or task leader. If you
develop Covid symptoms on task, notify the leader immediately and leave
the task site.
Arriving
late ...
It is a good idea to arrive on time the first time you come but if you
do arrive late:
On arrival at the meet point you will find a white
DCV
board in a prominent location.
Before setting off check it for any written instructions.
Leave in the direction indicated by the yellow arrow.
Follow the yellow DCV arrows
which will
guide you to the task site.
When you arrive find out who the leader is
and introduce yourself to them.
Leaving
early ... If
you need to leave early please let the leader know. If possible, advise
them in advance. If can't find the leader, ensure you tell someone you
are leaving. Before leaving, return any tools you are using.
Can't find the meeting point or the task
site?
If you are having problems finding the meeting point or the task site
the you can call the DCV mobile phone: 07929
961532 and hopefully the task leader will be able to give
you instructions. (Please
be aware that this phone is only on during tasks. Outside of these
times it will go to Voicemail. This may also happen if there
is no mobile coverage at the task site.)
